Jeong Hee Jeong, The Circle of Care

Play consists of interviews of multiple Jeonghees in their 60s and their daughters Heejeongs in their 30s. The work eventually discusses the painful circle of demand for care for children and elderly members of a family, and life of women struggling everywhere to desperately fill in the blanks created by having to serve the demand. They raise their children when they are young and, after the children grow up and be independent, work as caretakers of others to make ends meet. Afterwards, when they grow old, they are cared for by their children or other employed caretakers. As such, the life of Jeonghee and Heejeong represents “the circle of care” throughout the life of a woman.

GROUP INTRODUCTION

Like the rabbit hole in , Rabbithole Theater would like to be a channel that guides the audience to the special time and space that they would otherwise pass by without recognizing. In other words, the theater company would like to discover something that must be the essence of theater, which you would only find out after clearing the layers of the new media, which evolution of time created, one by one. “A small but rich stage” produced by the company will remind the audience to look around and rediscover themselves and those around them.
